After the heat-wave of July this month has been very wet and at times pretty chilly too!
I took this picture the other day as I was walking out of my back gate. Their is ivy all over the fence along my path and just after yet another rain shower the ivy was covered in rain covered cobwebs that looked like little collections or diamonds in the leaves.
I’ve never really thought about where the water goes. Does it just evaporate? I suppose it does. It must annoy the spiders though, I mean you’d have to be a pretty stupid bug not to spot the web now wouldn’t you.
I’ve noticed that a lot of my Xanga subscribers no longer comment on my new blog. What’s up with that then? I’m getting hits, and plenty of them, but very very few comments these days. Come on people, everyone likes a little encouragement from time to time.

When you think about how much the water droplets weigh compared to the size and weight of the web it’s pretty amazing that the whole thing doesn’t disintegrate.

Hi Simon, I have not felt I have had anything to say lately, I always read your Blogs though – sometime your Blogs sound very anti-American. That was a great picture you took of the spider-web, you really take wonderful pictures…you are a very talented man.

That’s a really pretty picture. You have a good ability to see what most of us would walk right past and not even notice.
RYC: Hope it wasn’t bad.

a lack of comments on your blog usually means that you said something deep and meaningful as opposed to “I love cookies.” I dont always understand blogland…
Anyways, putting my bitterness aside, I like the picture. I think its very well done… and if I were a spider, I’d be pretty ticked that mother nature was always working against me. BUT.. maybe he has to respin the web everyday anyways and the water acts as a solvent… maybe his real bug catching action takes place in the night time. I used to watch this one spider pretty regularly (he was in the bathroom) and he respun everyday…. tediuous, but he still did it… okay. enough analysis of spiders…

That is so true Rachel! Within the Xanga community I have noticed that among the Houston Vineyard group of people who know each other or know of each other, very few people like to really comment on subjects that require then to show a strong opinion or position on something.
In a telephone conversation with someone regarding David’s ‘sex’ question post a few weeks back, they said that they would love to really meet that subject head on an express their opinions but that they felt somewhat held back in doing so because of the fact they knew others had and they didn’t want to place their head on the chopping block, so to speak.
Anyway, great to see you over here Rachel. Thanks for popping by.

Yeah, I know what you’re talking about (and I’m actually not completely guilt free of it…)… i think its hard for people to expose what they really think cause a. what they really think (their ‘conviction’) is not how they’re living, and they’re ashamed of it or b. they want to avoid conflict and they think the best way to do that is to hold a middle of the road opinion… they may be right~ I generally dont do this so I wouldnt know… and we all know you’re generally not in the ‘middle of the road’, so it may just have to remain a mystery to us… Anyways, I think these two reasons pretty much cover the bases for not being open about yourself in a post.
