I really enjoy Alex Chadwick’s ongoing series ‘Interviews 50c.’ In the video below Chadwick meets Mishke in Telluride, Colorado, who is proud to be ranked the 916th best pinball player in the world.
Mishke is quite the character, with crazy hair and a love of “fighting gravity” he tells Chadwick that he doesn’t participate much, which is why he is so pleased with being ranked in the World Pinball Player Rankings. Since giving the interview his rating has fallen and he is now currently ranked 1636th, however I don’t think “just Mishke” will mind too much.

Isn’t it sad that we’ve gone all digital these days. With computer game things with urine sounding names we seem to have lost something of the magic of things like real pinball machines.

Ah, Telluride, Colorado. Such a beautiful place, I’ve been many many times when I was mispending my youth in Durango.
I tell you what Simon, if you haven’t been to Durango or Telluride, Colorado, then you need to add both places to your list of places to see before you’re too old. It might not be your impossibly blue paradise island lagoon, but we’ve got we’ve got plenty here in Colorado that might well cause you to catch your breath.
Since my wife and I moved to Boulder several members of our family and friends have followed us out here. My youngest brother came for Christmas back in 99 and he simply never went back again.

You know Doug, I do plan to see more of Colorado. Boulder is a great town, I very much enjoyed hanging out there for a few days, sitting out front of the Laughing Goat Coffee House soaking up the sun and watching the people walk by.
The Rockies were spectacular and I only had a taster of what was on offer, so yeah, I’ll be back there one day for sure.

Ever since I was a young boy,
I’ve played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
but I ain’t seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall.
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pinball!
