On the day I arrived for the first time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I snapped this photograph as a potential picture for 366 pictures.

Head scarfs

I hadn’t long been in Malaysia, a Muslim country, when I snapped this picture. There isn’t a whole lot else to say about this picture really. There’s no in-depth story or quick anecdote, other than I simply liked the colors and the rather robotic expressions on the faces of the heads. It was really just a colorful photograph that I wished I had an opportunity to publish.

366 picturesAnyone who was given or picked up one of my 366 pictures promotional cards late in 2012 would have seen this picture. I left many of these cards in cafes around the world, and still have a few which I leave in my favorite coffee haunts from time to time.

The picture I published on that March day was something of a cliché. It featured the Petronas Twin Towers lit up against a black night sky, and in all fairness it wasn’t even a very good picture of them either! However, I wanted to set a visual landmark of the fact I had arrived in Asia, and while the headscarf one might have given that impression to some extent, I felt a picture of the twin towers had more of a travel free to it.
