This is a recent picture of my little nephew and niece, Jacob and his twin sister Sommerlee. I didn’t take the picture. They live 250 miles away from me and in UK terms that is a LONG way away. And besides, driving my little MG is scary enough in the wet, so there’s no way I’d want to drive it in snow!
Anyway, I just thought I would post the picture simply because it’s got that “Aww” factor. Or maybe I’m biased?

Definately got the ‘Aww’ factor…the kids look quite cute too!

Definitely Aww!
But hey, you know, you don’t have to dwell on feeling bad about not driving down there to play with them yourselves. You’ll get the chance, and in the meantime isn’t it great that this digital age lets us maintain a closeness that 250 miles would otherwise preclude? :-)

Awww, they are adorable!
Wow, here in Michigan You can drive 250 miles and still be in this damn state. Actually, the distance from Detroit to the most northern tip of the upper penninsula (Houghton-Hancock) is somewhere around 500 miles! Crazy!

Yep, here name is indeed Sommerlee. When my sister first told me that I was like “Huh?” But you know, I actually think that is a really cool name now. Unusual and not trashy with it at all.

I have driven my MG in the snow, it can be good fun but a little risky around roundabouts! Great little car though.

The trouble is Mark, I have a Lotus 1.9 Litre engine in mine (had to have it as I couldn’t get a new MG engine after blowing mine up). You wouldn’t think that the .1 of a litre would hake such a difference, but my God it really does! I’ve been sideways a few times in the wet. :-)

Mine is only a tiny 1.6 litre but still good fun. How on earth did you manage to blow it up?

The offside wheel arch soundproofing became lose while I was down south. It bagan to rub on the tire which in turn got very hot and very quickly exploded while I was on the M25. The force of the exploding tire was such that it not only destroyed the soundproofing around the wheel arch nut a part of the tire shot at some speed into the engine bay and snapped the cam belt which bent the piston rods which made the whole thing go BANG and grind to a very unwelcome and very expensive halt.
At the time MG had just gone bust, so there were no spare engine available to me within a reasonable time so the insurance company elected to have a Lotus Elan engine fitted as they were in plentiful supply and apparently need very little adjusting to go in the MGF (or so I’m told).
The downside was that I was expecting a huge “Powered by LOTUS” stamp to be clearly visable on what little you can see of the engine in the car. However, to look at, I can see no difference at all.
I was tempted to buy a ‘Powered by LOTUS’ badge and put it on the rear of the car. But I didn’t. Instead I like to just give it some right foot from time to time and leave everyone standing. :-)

They are adorable…and I like thinking of you as a proud Uncle. I haven’t seen snow here in South Texas in a couple of winters…I freeze even in the summer! So, I try to stay away from the snow.

Yeah, it’s tough being a far away uncle. But they’re fun to be around when I’m around. Funny little people :-)

Awwwww, how nice! My daughter built a snow man, too, but couldn’t put the head on, as the snow had become quite wet already and made it even heavier. She was gutted. Bless…

Cute picture Simon. Thanks for sharing it. We love seeing pictures of snow here in Houston. I’ve only seen snow a handful of time, I can always dream when I see other people’s pictures.

I rarely see snow either. For real snow I had to go to New Hampshire and upstate Oregon. If it snows where I live it’s all gone by the time I get out of bed.
