We all have habits and little quirks that we don’t give much thought to, minor indulgences we enjoy in passing. One of mine is the rather silly practice of creating what I’ll loosely call ‘bathtub art.’
I took these pictures a while ago after I had a Jackson Pollock moment with the bubble bath and the shiny white ‘canvas’ of the empty bathtub. The funny thing is that this wasn’t an isolated incident, I do this every single time I have a bath.
I don’t usually photograph it, but I do stand there and daub the bubble bath in random Pollock style swirls. Sometimes I even take the time to dribble a few other colors to really add to the ‘art.’ And yes, that means that I have indeed purchased bottles of bubble bath for no other reason than their color!
There’s no method to this, no abstract expressionism or art to be deciphered. It’s like I said.. We all have habits and little quirks that we don’t give much thought to, minor indulgences we enjoy in passing. This just happens to be one of mine.

I like it! Is that soap then? The red is so vibrant.

Yes Bob, that’s bubble bath soap. It’s the cheap cinnamon stuff from Asda. (I can’t believe someone wrote a review of it!) I imagine my bubble bath box looks something like Jackson Pollocks paint collection.

Not that I want to picture this, but I am curious if you have these bubble baths while listening to the Venga Boys and Tiffany. Or are these strictly Justin Beiber moments?

After the day I’ve had I will be soaking in a long bubble bath tonight. Maybe I’ll have a go at the art thing :-)

Well, your art is lovely, but I’m looking at that floor with envious eyes. How old is your house to have a beautiful floor like that?

That’s totally awesome! It’s seriously like something you would see in some modern art museum. You should show us more pictures.

Your bathroom art reminds me of when Eric and Laura had bathtub finger paint and bathtub crayons. Their work was fabulous too; and did double duty as bathtub cleaning as well. ah the fun….

Dude. Art and bubble baths?
I know you like the ladies, but are you sure you’re not a switch hitter?

It is truly a gift to find beautiful happiness in simple places.

Cute. But your bathroom is very bright.

@ Abby Rhode – The apartment I live in is in a 200 year old building. That said, I am afraid to say that the beautiful floor, while beautiful, is not made of wood. It is an expensive vinyl floor patterned and ridged to look and feel like wood.
@ Marcie – I’ll have to take a few more pics and maybe make another post in the future to show off some more bath art ;-)
@ Prop19 – I am very curious. Why did you choose the handle ‘Prop19?’
@ Jessica – I don’t actually have the lights on when I take the bath. Instead I put on candles and just sit back and chill. Braden and Max, and others, have a lot of laughs making fun of me for this, but I don’t care. :-)
Here’s a pic of the bath when the lights are out and the candles are on. ‘Switch hitter’ comments aside, this is one of my favorite places to be when the nights are cold and dark!

It’s no wonder ‘stuff’ tends to happen in your bathroom ;-)

It’s all gone a bit Brokeback Mountain here now!

I wush i could quit you :-D No, no, Braden :-).
Candles in an enclosed space have too effects, they look pretty and they make the place darn hot, I’m simply suggesting that some people, perhaps even ladies might have the urge to strip off in such a pretty and hot bathroom.

In response to your question Simon, I chose the handle prop19 because I support Proposition 19 here in California which aims to take a more sensible view on marijuana related activities seeing more like tobacco and alcohol rather than a criminal substance. You can read up about it at https://yeson19.com
