Following on from my recent ‘shockvertising’ post, I thought I would post a link to a current TV commercial that I really like. The ad is once again a VW one but I’m not posting it for it’s shocking or controversial qualities, but purely because I really like the ad and appreciate the days of work that must have gone into making it.
Actually, as coincidence would have it, my favorite ever TV commercial is another VW one. Released quite a while back, the Cabrio ad introduced me to the music of Nick Drake. It also reminded me of a really great night I spent on Singing Beach just North of Boston with some students from Gordon College. It was a warm night and there were just loads of groups of people chilling out on the beach. It was magically mellow.
And just in case you missed my links to some amusing TV commercials in the comments of the ‘shockvertising’ post I’ve posted them again. So hey, enjoy, though if you’re not on broadband you probably won’t.

I watched the Cabrio video, and my computer opened a gazillion pop-up ads afterwards And I have one of those pop-up ads stopper, and it didn’t work. Either way, I’m never opening another one of your links again :-)

Fuck…great videos. I’ve been watching them on and off as I sit at my computer and write academic crap. Nice break. That Cabrio ad…I think it must have come out around the Olympics last summer or something? Lovely.
But I’m gonna have to go with the Jazz Festival ad as my favorite. It appeals to me on so many levels, having lived in a hood, loving jazz, and having been that pedestrian on occasion.

Hey Simon! I’m letting all the people I subscribed to know that I am making music play list things. If you want one, the max is like 15-20, so just leave a comment and I’l give you the hook up.

By the way, I never saw a Welsh flag before. I like the Union Jack better. Couldn’t tell a difference between the Union Jack and the English. Is there one?

Pam, when were you ever “young and impressionable” LOL!! That’s makes you sound so sweet an innocent! :-) But hey, I am glad you enjoyed that night. it was a good little blast into Wales and I am glad to have shared that with you. As for me passing my ‘best before date’ the way I see it is, I still have a ways to go yet :-)
As for the question of the kids… see the comment I made in the post prior to this one for the explanation of that picture.

I wish I’d been at Singing Beach. It sounds like my kind of fun – one of those moments that make life rich.
